Hasbro, EA Bring Bejeweled To The Board

Bejeweled[Techtaffy Newsdesk]

Hasbro and PopCap Games, a division of EA, have signed a licensing deal to bring some of PopCap’s blockbuster properties into a new world of face-to-face games developed by Hasbro. Through this agreement, Hasbro has obtained the license to develop and distribute a wide range of physical games based on PopCap’s properties, including Bejeweled.

Hasbro will introduce two games in the spring of 2013 based on PopCap’s Bejeweled game, which has sold more than 50 million digital units worldwide.

In Hasbro’s version of the Bejeweled game, players swap gems on the game board to match 3 or more to win. The game also includes a code for players to download the Bejeweled 3 computer game. There is also Bejeweled Frenzy, a fast-paced card game that challenges players to match gems and build stacks of cards as fast as they can.

The new physical games also include digital values for online Bejeweled players, such as a download of the Bejeweled 3 computer game.
