Google Maps Get Personalization Options

Google_MapsGoogle announced a new version of Google Maps at the Google I/O conference on Wednesday. The new avatar lets users personalize their maps, and enables 3D rendering of buildings during a search, among other things.

The new Google Maps instantly changes to highlight relevant information, like someone drawing a map to her favorite restaurant, with only the roads and landmarks she needs to get there. Every click draws a new map with fresh highlights.

The more you interact with the map, the better it will get, says Google.  Google Maps will also let you review places and read reviews written by friends.

Search results are now labeled directly on the map with brief place descriptions and icons that highlight business categories and other useful information – like restaurants that are recommended by your Google+ friends. Info cards provide information such as business hours, and ratings and reviews.

The carousel gathers all Google Maps imagery in one spot. The Earth view is directly integrated into the new maps.
