Chase Launches Card Reader For Accepting Payments Using Smartphone

Chase has launched a card reader for mobile devices, joining the ranks of Square, Intuit, VeriFone, and PayPal.

Chase Checkout solutions, launched by Chase Paymentech, the payment processing and merchant acquiring subsidiary of JPMorgan Chase, lets merchants accept payments on the go with their smartphones.

Chase Mobile Checkout uses a card reader device, which fits in the audio port of Apple and Android-enabled smartphones, and includes a rechargeable lithium ion battery. Hardware encryption is performed in the device.     

After merchants activate their account, Chase Paymentech ships the card reader along with instructions on getting started.
